We were as unlike as
Two peas in two pods-
If I was a sweater
You were a different weather;
If you were the peanut,
I was the allergy.
Sometimes our silences hung
Between us like a shower curtain.
I often wonder who was on the side
That got wet.
But still we stuck
Like gummy bears
That are spit on the ceiling-
By bored children.
Maybe you and I bit off
More than we could chew.
Eventually we fell down-
Dysmorphic and discoloured.
We picked ourselves up quickly
You ran one way, and I-
The other.
That we could never be
Something, let alone anything:
Now became clear
Beyond a doubt.
